So the wheels are in motion for my long awaited album, Cold Rain. I was going to change the name to Chinese Democracy but chose not to deal with a potential lawsuit. : ) The release date is set for October 7, 2008 and I am trying something different this time around. The album will be released digitally across iTunes, Rhapsody, AmazonMP3, eMusic & Napster. No big CD run. No endless sea of boxes in the closet. However, I will be doing a limited edition run of 100 and making each of them pretty special and unique. I am using Stumptown Printer’s Arigato Pak! and hope to do something cool. I am essentially making these for shows so I can get them in your hands right on the spot. I uploaded to these digital stores using Tunecore last week and I already see the album queued up and ready to go on Rhapsody & Amazon for 10.07.08. That's hella fast.

More details about the songs, sessions & players to come....

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. The time off was great and I was finally able to concentrate at work today. Although my news postings have not been so abundant this year I have been pretty busy working on music both for myself and others.

First off, congrats to Scott Andrew on the completion of his full length CD, Save You From Yourself. We started working on the CD almost a year and a half ago. I helped engineer the album in my home studio and it was a great time and it really turned out to be an amazing disk. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Along with lending my engineering support, I also sing backup vocals on the track “Not The One”. There is also a bonus CD that he is offering his fans who pre-ordered the album. The bonus CD contains songs by all the artists that played or sang on his CD including myself, Alissa Jandt, Michael Spaly, Jerin Falkner and Laurie Katherine Carlsson. I recorded a track special for the compilation and this version will be exclusive to this compilation. The song is titled Different Tonght / God Lies. I can confirm it is an exclusive since I wiped my hard drive clean not knowing that some of my WAVE files were on the disk. That sucked but it makes the compilation CD and even cooler now. I will post the song to this website once I get a version back from Scott. : )

Scott has done such a good job of documenting the process along the way I am providing the links back to his blog. He runs a great site so check it out.

It's in the Mail
What Happens Next
Pre-orders End Today
Mastering Session
Mastering Done! - Some video of us in the studio with Mark Guenther of Seattle Disc Mastering.
CD Mastering Update
The Track List
Pre-orders Now Come With...
Monkey Monkey Shark
New Album Stuff
This Stupid Album Proiect
The Muse Moves
A Newer New Year - This is an MP3 of me covering Scott’s song “A New Year.” Scott, did I ever tell you how much I like that song?
New Album News

Today was like the day after a big game. I have talked to more people about this then any album event in a long time. I am impressed how this has really opened the dialog and has generated some really great conversations about the future of the music business. The real question now is how does a new band get to be as big as Radiohead without the initial marketing that the labels provided? Not that I go to many arena shows anymore but here is a list of bands rolling through Seattle's Key Arena; Ozzy, Billy Joel & Van Halen. Who is going to play the arena's when the 70s, 80s & 90s bands finally fade away?

While I may have been quiet, I have definitely been pretty busy. I started a new job last week working in the Music Partner Services department over here at Real. So far, so good.

My latest CD, working under the title "III", is chugging along. About half way through the recording process and looking to focus more on it's completion this fall. I bought a new digital piano, the Roland FP-7, and as a result it has made me rethink the tracks on the disk. I have begun to work on some tunes I put to the side a few years ago. One particular track is called "Easier" and playing it is like bumping into an old friend you have not seen in years. Really glad to have that one back.

Scott Andrew & I are also finishing up his latest CD, title is still a secret, in my home studio. I also threw some background vocals on a track. We are mixing at the moment and should be wrapping up this month. The entire album sounds great and hope you check it out. He will be leaking some tracks soon so keep up with his latest news/blogs.

Summer camping trip will be here soon and this year we are all going to British Columbia & Alberta, Canada. Can't wait to see the Rockies again...
